Homework
Policies and Procedures
¨
Spelling pre-tests are given on
Monday (7th and 8th grade) and Thursday (6th
grade). Students who receive perfect scores on the spelling pre-tests are excused
from taking the final test. They do not have to complete the entire unit,
either. They do have to complete the differentiated spelling unit that I hand
out.
¨
Final spelling tests are given on
Wednesday (6th grade) and Friday (7th and 8th grade).
¨
Students are allowed to use any
color pen when taking notes in their notebooks during class.
¨
Typed work needs to always be double spaced or space and ˝.
Also, a complete heading should always be included on the top, right-hand
margin – the student’s name, the date of the assignment, the class, the
assignment name. Typed assignments can be emailed to me if there are printing
problems at home.
¨
Typically, I do not assign homework
on Friday that is due on Monday. (The exception to this might be religion assignments
that require parent input.) Sometimes it will be due on Tuesday, but the
students then have the option of working over the weekend or on Monday night.
Long-term assignments will occasionally incorporate weekends. Long-range
planning is crucial.
¨
I try to give a minimum of two days
notice before a test is scheduled.
¨
I use a ticket system as a positive
motivation and reward! Click here for more information.

Please refer to the Middle School
Handbook for more information regarding late or missing work.
