6th Grade Social Studies

Teacher:   Mrs. Catherine Kollars, ckollars@stclarepdx.org

Curriculum:   Ancient Civilization; Current Events

Sixth graders will study the ancient world focusing on the civilizations of Egypt, Ancient India, Ancient China, Greece, Rome, Islam, and the Middle Ages.  Students will develop important organization and study skills as they learn a process for studying social studies that they will follow for the next three years. The Egyptian project and report will allow students to create a model or "artifact" related to ancient Egypt.  These will be displayed in the school hallways for all to enjoy in the late fall.  Another highlight of the course will include Greek Day in which students dress as ancient Greeks and participate in student-written skits to share information they  have researched with the rest of the class.
