MUSE (Musical Understanding through Sound Education) has instrumental programs in over 48 private and public schools in Portland and the San Francisco Bay Area. They tailor their programs to each individual school's needs, and support each school with a qualified instructor, comprehensive curriculum developed and coordinated by director Bryant Allard, as well as a host of special events including multi-school concerts, MUSE solo and ensemble festival, parades, summer band and jazz camps, and band festivals.

The St. Clare band will be in its second year and we are expanding to have a beginning band that meets on Tuesdays right after school and an Intermediate Band that meets on Thursdays after school. Classes run 50 minutes. I hope you will consider joining us. We offer instruction in:

  • Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, and Drums.

I am so fortunate to be at St. Clare School offering instrumental band. I have been teaching band for 25 years and I am also the director of the M.U.S.E. Band Program. I graduated from The Berklee College of Music in 1984 with a Bachelor’s in Performance. I play jazz trumpet and perform around the Portland area playing with many of the great talented jazz players we have here in the Northwest.  I am 53 years old with one daughter, Cameron, who is in college studying to be a 1st or 2nd grade teacher and one son, Cullen, who is in middle school. My wife Teri works with me at M.U.S.E. and we live out in Tigard. I love what I do and hope I can share with your child the fun and excitement of learning an instrument.
