Principal's Corner

Dear Parents and Friends of St. Clare School,

Lent is a season of turning to God in simplicity and sincerity as we prepare to celebrate the joy of Easter.  Our hearts are heavy as we remember our sins, but we are also confident in God’s mercy and forgiveness.

At St. Clare, we begin Lent with an all-parish Ash Wednesday Mass.  As the weeks progress, our journey through Lent continues with several planned events and experiences.  These include various options for Reconciliation and participation in the Stations of the Cross, planned and led by our seventh grade class.

Additionally, individual classes will participate in several service outreach projects including the 8th grade 24-hour food fast to benefit Catholic Relief Services. As a school-wide project, we will collect coins for St. Andre Bessette Parish (formerly known as the Downtown Chapel) through our annual Pennies for the Poor fund drive.

Throughout this season, we will focus on the three great Lenten practices:  prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  Active participation in these three actions will help us to experience Lent as a holy season.  Let’s be open to God’s kindness as we promise to pray with more love, avoid earthy things that we hold too dear, and reach out to those who need our care.

 O merciful God,

You love us beyond any love we can understand!

May our fasting, prayer, and works of mercy

Help us to follow your Son,

Who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

~Amen~

Blessings to you as you journey through this holy season,

Debbi Monahan
