Principal's Corner

Dear St. Clare families and prospective families,

We are close to completing another busy school year!  This year we have so much to be thankful for: our hallways and playground are filled with the chatter of happy students, our staff is truly dedicated to the spiritual and educational development of each and every child, and our wonderful families continue to support St. Clare in more ways than we can name.

As a ministry of St. Clare Parish, the school continues “to share and celebrate the transforming power of God’s love through worship, education, and service.”  Liturgies are celebrated weekly at St. Clare, and prayer is an integral part of our school day.

St. Clare is fully accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association. Our core curriculum includes formal instruction in religion, language arts, math, social studies, science, art, music, physical education, health, library/media, and technology. We have a learning specialist on staff to assist teachers with meeting the needs of all learners. She is also a licensed school counselor.

Service is a noticeable component of our program.  Each class plans and carries out outreach projects that are grade-appropriate. Three annual all-school projects are organized by our student council, and students participate in parish service opportunities, as well.

This year, we are offering several opportunities for after-school enrichment for students of varying ages, including Drama Club, Book Club/Battle of the Books, MUSE (instrumental band program), Mad Science, and Walking Club. There are also opportunities for speech and math competitions for those middle school students who are interested.

Bingo night, the Christmas program, the Geography Bee, the annual auction, the speech festival, the talent show, Fitness Challenge, science fair, Festival of the Arts, field day . . . annual events and traditions have rounded out the year. It has been a year filled with learning, laughter, and friendship. We are blessed!

With gratitude,

Debbi Monahan
