Principal's Corner

Dear St. Clare families and friends,

Happy New Year! It’s difficult to believe we are beginning 2017! During the winter months, the pace slows down a bit at school. The hustle and bustle of the holidays is behind us, and we can settle in to some solid academic time with a few traditional winter events.

This year begins with the annual National Geographic Geography Bee on Thursday, January 5. Two students from each class in grades 4-8 will compete to see who will be our school winner. That student will take a written test to determine if he/she qualifies to compete at the state level. Over the past several years, quite a few St. Clare students have achieved this status. Good luck to all the contestants!

We also look forward to the Central Catholic Math Festival, the beginning of Drama Club rehearsals, visits from OMSI, time with our preschool and Providence friends, family groups, and a kindergarten cooking experience.

The month ends with Catholic Schools Week from January 29-February 2, which includes a special Mass and coffee-hour for our alumni. Our annual Open House will be held on Sunday, January 29, from noon-2:00 p.m. We look forward to sharing our wonderful school with all those who may be interested in joining our community!

February will bring an OMSI assembly, a faith-formation day for teachers, Valentine’s Day festivities, and our annual benefit auction, Going for the Green, on February 11.

Did I say the pace would slow down? Yes, it truly does, yet we will accomplish a lot. Please wish us well during these winter months. Our best to you!

With best regards,

Debbi Monahan
