Welcome to Second Grade!

Faith-filled People

Life-long Learners!

Second grade is a fun, exciting year at St. Clare! We are actively engaged in our learning, exploring all subject areas such as language arts, math, science, social studies, and religion. We also have additional courses such as art, p.e., music, library, and computer sciences. During the year, we have many exciting field experiences in the works to complement our learning in the classroom. Such trips have included visits to Plumper Pumpkin Patch, Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm's Pumpkin Fest, OMSI, Tryon Creek State Park, Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve, Franz Bakery, Pittock Mansion, and plays based on great children's literature performed by Oregon Children's Theatre. Service learning is also a key component of our curriculum so we volunteer with the Oregon Food Bank numerous times during the school year and, in the past, visited West Hills Village to read with senior residents. Last, but not least, second grade is also a very important year for our children as they receive their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

This is my ninth year in the teaching profession and as a teacher at St. Clare. I strive to meet the needs of each and every learner in my classroom by creating a safe and respectful learning environment and employing best practices in teaching  to best meet my students' learning needs.
