Welcome to the Seventh Grade

7th Grade Homeroom Teacher: Ms. Paige Sturges, psturges@stclarepdx.org

As your homeroom teacher, I am committed to helping you have a fantastic, productive year. We will meet as a class every morning and every afternoon, supporting one another in organization and motivation. I am also the English Language Arts teacher for all sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. My goal for each and every student is to think more critically, communicate more effectively, and demonstrate responsibility and kindness. It is an honor to be your teacher, and I hope that you will reach out to me if you have questions or concerns.

About Ms. Sturges

My great passion in life is for storytelling. I love to read novels, short stories, poems, memoirs, biographies…Ms. Sturges anything that tells a great story. As a storyteller myself, I also write both fiction and nonfiction and hope one day to be published. Sharing what I know about storytelling with my middle school students is perhaps the greatest job in the world.

This is my first year teaching at St. Clare. In fact, I am also new to Portland. Originally, I studied to be a French literature professor at the University of Southern California. I hold a B.A. and M.A. from USC in French literature, and taught undergraduate courses in language and literature there for five years. More recently, I earned a M.A. in Education from Claremont Graduate University. I am fully credentialed to teach in both Oregon and California, with a special endorsement for teaching English as a second language.

I am married—to a writer, of course. And my best pal is my faithful dog, Georgie. She helps me to be patient and kind, and to appreciate the present.
